Letter: Rising crime in Belize
Letters

Dear Sir:

"The criminal backgrounds of many of the people who were granted Belizean citizenships in the past for political purposes were not known. This could be one of the main reasons why violent crimes in Belize have increased over the years. Not only have the crimes increased tremendously but the types of crime are high tech and new to many of the law enforcement authorities in Belize."

This is a crock of mess, the reason why the crime rate in Belize has increased is because of poverty, a lack of education for all people, no social services to speak of and the endless growth of corruption on all levels of life in Belize.

Injustice breeds injustice. People who have hold down people who don't have and make people who don't have serve the rich. It's 21st century social-econmic slavery. Don't blame it on outsiders; the problem is birthed within the society of Belize and the supposed leaders of the people.

T. Brown
